Save the Bees

The Save the Bees, Virginia Project was started in 2019 when we noticed that, after the City of Virginia Beach sprayed our neighborhood for mosquitoes one late, summer night, all signs of insect life disappeared.  Our initial goal is to ban the use of permethrin as a mosquito spray in Virginia. After that, we will expand our goals.

What is permethrin?

Short answer: Permethrin is a non-selective mosquito spray that is still being used in many towns and cities across the United States.  A longer answer to the question is here. What is permethrin?  We've highlighted some of the most salient facts in the report.

How can I help?

Currently, the best ways to help with the Save the Bees Project is: 1) If you live in Virginia, sign the petition. And, 2) Make a small purchase of a bumper sticker or a Bee Wear T-shirt. (more info below)

What is the Bee Wear brand?

How are the funds from the Save the Bees Fund used?

All funds are used to further promote the Save the Bees Project, research, legal fees, and other administrative costs.

This petition is to ban the use of permethrin as a widespread mosquito spray across Virginia. Please sign, and invite your friends and family to do the same. This petition is hosted using Google forms, so you will need a Google account to sign. This is to prevent abuse.  Ban the use of permethrin in Virginia.
